I'm Lee Aston, an English bloke living in Northern France, I designed and built this site for Savio and I keep the mechanics ticking over - it's been going since early 2008. If you're a regular you'll also know the site down in 2010 - we had an extra kiddy come along and so I didn't have the time to run it properly. But Packet Curry (now owned by friend Savio) is back and here to stay. The main difference this time round is that the packets are sent to you from the UK - not France - am I happy about that! Buying online can be risky, although not from this site, even so here is a bit about the site and where it came from.
A few people have asked where did this site come from? Who's running it? Where's it based? Are the curries any good? If I give you money are you really going to send me some curries or just disappear - and that kind of stuff. Here's the short answer: I'm Lee, I live in France with a French girl called Valerie (Valeries got a website as well). We've go 3 children, a dog, 5 cats and live in a small town called Les Pieux in Normandy. When I built the site in early 2008 (I'm a wannabe website designer) I really didn't expect it to get so much attention - as of now (June 2011) Packet Curry has coming on 7000 customers and has dished out 1000's of packets of great curry all over France.
The new owner, Savio, is a good friend of mine, he's Goan and lives in the UK with his lovely wife and 2 children. Savio does the importing from India, packs up the orders and posts them over to us curry lovers in France. All I do these days is keep the site running.
So are the curries any good? OMG yes, they're are absolutely bloody amazing. Every single comment on the buzz page is for real and all the reviews (over a 100 so far) on the curry pages are written by customers (this site is a bullshit free zone). Pretty much all customers reorder and reorder and reorder.
Anyways look, If you're undecided take a risk and splash out on 3 or 4 packets - if you don't like them Savio will send you a full refund.
Buying over the internet can be dodgy, so we'd like to try and put your mind at ease and answer a few questions you might have.
Want to know where your order has got to or tell us about something that was wrong with it, for this please pop an email to savio@packetcurry.com. Packet Curry has an aswering machine at 0233952034 - sorry that it's a machine - if you do use the machine please tell us your email address.
** I'm afraid there are no phone orders **
You can and here's why. Savio is the sole European importer of Parampara Curries and distributes them all over the UK, his UK site can be found at www.puritytrading.co.uk. Lee is a brit living in France for 10 years now with my partner and 3 great kids. For my day job I'm a website designer and I created this site because I love curry. You can check me out over at www.cinqpages.com, my website design company. The site and business belong to Savio.
The quick answer is via PayPal. It's secure, reliable and used by people the world over.
Savio makes absolutely every effort to get your order posted out within 24 hours, thing is Savio isn't perfect and sometimes it might take a day or two longer. If he's away and can't process orders for 3 or more days he'll always leave a little announcement on the site - that way at least you know what you're getting into. They're posted from the UK and while delivery shouldn't be more than 14 days, quicker if possible.
Absolutle, completley not a problem. You'll need to send those you haven't eaten back via recorded post and at your expense though.
There is, but we make sure every packed we send you has at least 2 months left to live - plus they can be frozen. Bet you eat them first though!
The curry spice mix is made in facilities that processes peanuts, tree nuts, soy, milk and wheat.
It used to be just France, but a few customers moved country so to keep their tummies happy we also do Germany, Spain and Monaco. Please email savio@packetcurry.com if you want your European country adding to the list.
Yes, they're made in Pune (south India), shipped to London, sent to France and on to your letterbox.
First thing to know is that I don't make a cent on delivery, whatever the postage charge is, is what I pass on - if I could do it cheaper I would! Each parcel is packed in strong container or padded envelope - I'd hate for your curries to get damaged!
